Job Overview

To provide a qualified specialist psychological therapy service to people with mental health problems as part of the Adult Community Psychological Services and Essex University Partnership NHS Trust; providing specialist psychological assessment and intervention including DBT Skills groups, STEPPS groups and individual therapy. To offer advice and consultation on client’s psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s and Trust’s policies and procedures. To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the areas served by the multidisciplinary teams and psychology service. The service offers generous CPD opportunities, including possible training in EMDR, Schema Therapy, DBT and other modalities that link to service needs and appraisal objectives.

Main duties of the job

Up to £6000 of CPD funding over a 3 year period is available for training in a therapy which aligns with service needs (subject to completion of 6 months probationary period/ identified within appraisals). EPUT also offer a relocation package of up to £8,000. Covering a number of expenditures for new recruits relocating from 30 miles or more from their new work base at EPUT. For information contact recruitment.adverts@nhs.net

  • To provide specialist psychological assessments of people referred to the Adult Community Psychological Services based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client’s care. The post-holder will also be responsible for the safe use of any equipment used during assessments (e.g. test batteries).
  • To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a client’s mental health problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client’s problems, employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range settings
