Perception is a process by which

  1. environmental stimuli are sensed.
  2. sensations are assembled into meaningful patterns that represent external events.
  3. sensations and experiences are stored permanently in the brain.
  4. many different forms of stimulus energy are converted into electrical signals for use by the nervous system.
