Job overview: Clinical/Counselling Psychologist/Family Psychotherapist/Psychological Therapist Band 8a - £47,126 - £53,219 per annum (or preceptorship starting at a Band 7) Full Time - 37.5 hours per week - Split posts with the Aspergers Service are available for consideration Base - Sankey House, Pitsea

The Essex Adult Eating Disorders Service is currently expanding to enable delivery of FREED (First episode Rapid Early intervention for Eating Disorders, see https://freedfromed.co.uk/), alongside their existing service. This post has been created to both support the FREED project and to work as part of the existing service as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The postholder will provide a specialist psychological service to adults with eating disorders across all sectors of care (community service, day service and inpatient services), providing highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy.

Main duties of the job

  • Work across locality and interagency boundaries to meet the needs of a highly complex client group.
  • Work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.
  • Utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.
  • Offer advice and consultation on clients’ psychological care to non-psychologist/psychotherapist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers.
  • Use appropriate evidence based psychological therapies such as MANTRA and CBT-E or FBT
